Germany: Our partner - HZG

Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht

The Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht (HZG) is specialised in coastal and materials research. The
main HZG materials research areas focus on advanced engineering materials, materials research with neutrons and synchrotron radiation, active biomaterials and regenerative medicine.

The German Engineering Materials Science Center (GEMS) is the central user access platform of the HZG. As part of the Institute of Materials Research, it provides a worldwide, unique infrastructure for complementary research with photons and neutrons. GEMS runs the High Energy Materials Science Beamline (HEMS) and the Imaging Beamline (IBL) and shares parts of the BioSAXS Beamline, operated at DESY in Hamburg. At the neutron source FRM II in Garching, GEMS runs the instruments STRESS-SPEC, SANS-1 and REFSANS.

HZG are contributing to SINE2020 by hosting the WP leader for Industry.

They are also contributing to the Sample Environment work package by designing a 700 bar hydrogen container.
