Portugal: General Assembly in Coimbra 2016
7-8th September 2016
From the last year of the SINE2020 project back to the first year! Our Portuguese partner LIP: Laboratory of Instrumentation and Experimental Physics of Particles based at the University of Coimbra were our hosts for the 2016 General Assembly on September 7-8th.
Coimbra, which used to be Portugal’s capital city until 1255, is located about halfway between Porto and Portugal’s current capital city Lisbon. Coimbra’s historical buildings have earned the city its UNESCO World Heritage status and The University of Coimbra is based in its centre, having been founded in 1290. The Portuguese physician Egas Moniz studied and lectured here during his early career before moving to Lisbon.
95 Scientists working on all 10 Work Packages of the SINE2020 project gathered in this historic city to report on their progress. The first year produced, among other things, this SINE2020.eu website; e-learning tools for muon spectroscopy; the first proposals for test measurements from industry ; the first prototypes for detectors and several Work Package meetings and workshops.
Two years later and all these projects are still going strong. Check out all the latest courses, quizzes, simulations and exercises on e-neutrons.org. Read all the successful and inspiring Case Studies from industry and, of course, find out how many more developments have, well, developed on our SINE2020.eu website!
